Truckee is in the Sierra Nevada mountain range, high in the mountains and high in the desert. Summers are warm and dry. Sunny day after sunny day after sunny day. One evening near dusk in early August the first, and perhaps only, storm of the summer hit. Dark skies, grumbling thunder and big heavy drops of rain. The dramatic combination of sunset and thunder storm created some stunning light across the dry summer landscape.
