In the first week of December, Forum team riders Pat Moore and Nic Sauve dropped by Northstar for a marathon three day/two night rail shoot, with locations throughout the Village and Resort. Set ups were begun as the day was coming to an end at the ski resort, pushing snow around the rails with cats and scoops and workers were leaving for the day and families were settling into their apres activities. Drawing a small crowd of curious onlookers, Park Staff, photographers and pros worked together to create the perfect street-style shoot.

Night 1: In front of the twinkling fairy lights of the Northstar Village, a light and a Forum rock board await the photo shoot.

Pat Moore discusses the set-up with Terrain Park Supervisor Joe.

In the artificial light of a photo shoot set up, Pat Moore tests the firmness of the take off.

A breaker goes and the shoot loses all the lights, while he waits for it to be restored, one of the photographers picks up a spork and gets to work in the dark.

Pat Moore works on the take off with a snowboard; Forum snowboards abandoned in the snow for the time being while the rail set-up is perfected.

Pat Moore shovels snow off the mid section of the stairs.

Pat Moore watches closely as Terrain Park Supervisor Joe begins sporking the take-off to perfection under lights.

Two onlookers check out the rail from the top, discussing whether they would ever be man enough to hit it.

Nic Sauve contemplates what he needs to do from the top of the rail, a silhouetted photographer waits patiently at the bottom.

A joke is shared amongst the Forum riders and the photographers.

Night 2: In the middle of a Northstar Village staircase that tonight becomes more about the rail than the stairs, a Forum board waits for another night of shooting to begin.

Pat Moore and Nic Sauve, snow scoops in hand, discuss the rail with Terrain Park groomer, Mikee.

Pat Moore pushes snow around in the landing at the bottom of the stairs; A Northstar logo sticker brands the rail.

In front of the lights photographers get organised and set up.

At the bottom of the rail two photographers analyze test shots of the set up; At the top, in front of a light, a Forum snowboard stands ready in the snow.

Cozy against the warmth of the village fire pits, onlookers watch the Forum photo shoot preparation.

Two young kids, caught between their evening of ice skating in the Village and their family pizza dinner next door, stop to watch as Terrain Park Manager Mike and groomer Mikee get the distribution of snow perfect in the landing.

At the top, amidst lights and Northstar logos Nic Sauve mentally prepares.

Lights, spectators, and photographer’s on the roof, all ready for Nic Sauve to drop in.

A cameraman stationed in the middle of the stairs captures the blur of Nic Sauve flying over the rail.

Halfway up the stairs Nic Sauve checks out the results of the last show with the photographer so he knows exactly what to work on to get the perfect shot.

Pat Moore consultes with photographers before he drops in, letting them know what he’s planning.

Onlookers watch the colourful blur that is Pat Moore flying past them over the rail.
