With the Tahoe area heading into its fourth dry winter in as many years, it’s very easy to look around and constantly lament the lack of pretty white snow that this region depends on. While I’d much rather this landscape was covered in snow, since I can’t make that happen I’m instead embracing the beauty of a snowless high desert winter landscape. Perhaps it’s because I come from a country where plants don’t hibernate in winter and winter is usually the season of greenness in the landscape, I find the subtle colours and interesting textures of winter landscapes like this really beautiful.
